Carneys Point, NJ-Mercer softball (28-3) beat Salem (20-17) 8-4 in Game 1 of their doubleheader. Freshman Karisa Krawiec (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs and sophomore Stella Logan (Trenton, NJ/Allentown HS) went 3 for 5 with a double and 3 runs. Freshman Jamie Kozarski (Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddon Township) went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and freshman Priscilla Guthrie (Macomb, MI/Lutheran North) had a triple and RBI.
Freshman Bella Cornish-Didonato (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley) went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Jozalyn Sheipe-Warthen (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) allowed just one earned run to move to 14-2 on the season.
