Carneys Point, NJ-Mercer softball (29-3) held on for a 7-6 win at Salem (20-18). Sophomore Stella Logan (Trenton, NJ/Allentown HS) had a home run and 2 RBIs and freshman Ammonie Wertz (Ewing, NJ/Mercer County Tech) went for 2 for 3 with a double and RBI. Freshman Jamie Kozarski (Cherry Hill, NJ/Haddon Township) went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Freshman pitcher Ashlee Haywood (Ewing, NJ/Council Rock North) struck out eight in seven innings to move to 15-1 on the season.
Mercer next hosts Raritan Valley (1-13) in a 3:00 PM doubleheader.
