Sophomore Midfielder Eduardo Effting

West Windsor, N.J. 鈥� For 精东传媒鈥檚 (精东传媒) men鈥檚 soccer team, which fields a handful of nationally acclaimed scorers, sophomore Eduardo Effting has proved to be a great equalizer.

The midfielder, who Head Coach Widmarc Dalce complemented for his level-headed play, has served as an intermediary between the team鈥檚 high-volume scoring and rock-solid defense.

鈥淓ven when he doesn鈥檛 score, Eduardo plays so well,鈥� Dalce said. 鈥淟ast year his primary role was on defense, so to shift so seamlessly to midfield is a testament to his growth as a player.鈥�

While he isn鈥檛 leading the attack in the vein of his teammates like Eiichi Yamaguchi or Kotaro Koga, Effitng has left his mark on the Vikings鈥� score sheets. He鈥檚 tallied five goals this season, two of which he scored in a 11-1 victory over Rockland Community College.

鈥淐oach always says that we have to know how to play every position, offensively or defensively,鈥� Effting said.

More recently, Effting scored a goal on Oct. 12 against Carroll Community College in what would end as a 14-1 Mercer win.

鈥淚 think I鈥檝e gained a lot of experience this season, both as a player and as a person,鈥� Effting said. 鈥淐oach Dalce motivates us to be better every day.鈥�

Effting and the Vikings will play their final game of the regular season on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 16 against Kingsborough Community College.
