TRENTON, NJ – It was a great day for golf and an even better day to support ¾«¶«´«Ã½ (¾«¶«´«Ã½) student athletes, with more than 100 individuals coming out to hit the links and support the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Foundation’s student-athlete scholarship fund during the 32nd Annual ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Golf Classic Oct. 2 at the Trenton Country Club.

“We are so fortunate to have so many partners dedicated to the success of our students, and that was very much on display during the Golf Classic,” said ¾«¶«´«Ã½ President Dr. Deborah E. Preston. “The students here today are the leaders of tomorrow, and the community is sending a clear message that hard work will be supported, and rewarded.”

More than $35,000 was raised for student-athlete scholarships. Approximately 110 student-athletes benefit from the scholarship funds raised through the annual tournament, with more than 30 current ¾«¶«´«Ã½ athletes attending this year to personally thank golfers for their support. Attendees at the Golf Classic luncheon included NJ Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli – a member of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023 – and eight members of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Foundation’s Board of Directors.

The Primo Hoagies foursome, consisting of Tom Destefano, Eric Elliott, John Senft, and Tony Lanni took first place in the tournament, with second place going to the Smires & Associates team, with members Kevin Kerins, Vincent Abene, Jon Sciortino, and Steve Lattin. There was no Hole in One winner, but Closest to the Pin winners were Russ Rossir (third hole), Miki Bennett (fifth hole), Don Calabro (tenth hole), Steve Lattin (thirteenth hole), and Jerry Slicner (fifteenth hole). Anthony Conover won the straightest drive on the twelfth hole.

Steve Vaughn was the winner of the 50/50 drawing, who donated his winnings back to the Foundation’s student athlete scholarship fund.

The ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Foundation also expressed their special thanks for contributions to the golf Classic, including Haldeman Lexus of Princeton (hole in one sponsor); Trenton Country Club (mini outing and foursome); Jasna Polana (foursome); Mercer Oaks (foursome); Cherry Valley Country Club (foursome); and Jammin’ Crepes (box of goodies).
