This comprehensive 400-hour Pharmacy Technician Certification Preparation Program is broken up into didactic hours (240) and externship hours (160). It is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to successfully pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) and pursue a career as a certified pharmacy technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). The program encompasses both retail and hospital pharmacy practices, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience, and covers essential topics such as pharmacy laws and regulations, medication terminology, inventory and supply management, medication storage and handling, pharmacy calculations, and pharmacology—including drug names, dosage forms, and administration routes.

Class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 2/24-9/17
Externships for this entry-level program provide hands-on experience in real pharmacy operations in both retail and hospital settings, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge to practice, build essential skills such as prescription filling, inventory management, and customer service, and develop professional connections and readiness for employment. The total accumulated externship experience will be no less than 160 hours and will be completed in-person at designated facilities.
