2. Are online classes right for me?
  • You may want to consider a MercerOnline course if you'
    • Have access to a computer and reliable Internet access.
    • Work, family or other commitments prevent you from attending classes on campus.
    • Are highly self-motivated and work well independently.
    • Can budget your time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • You should not take a MercerOnline Course if you...
    • Don't have your own computer.
    • Have limited Internet access.
    • Have never "surfed the Web."
    • Find it difficult to manage your time and work independently.

3. What is Blackboard Learn?
  • Blackboard Learn is a Learning Management System used by 精东传媒 to enhance student-instructor and student-student communication by providing centralized access to online classes and class information. Students will be able to log on at any time, day or night, to complete course work.

4. How to get technical help with Blackboard?

5. How do I access and login to Blackboard?
  • Access Blackboard by logging into your MyMercer portal at .
  • Login using your MyMercer Student Portal USERNAME and enter the PASSWORD you set (the same password used for your portal).

6. When will I be able to access my online class?
  • Your course will be available a few days before the official start date of the class.

7. What do I do if this is my first online course?
  • Be sure to attend one of our Blackboard Information Sessions, either face-to-face or online. Information about our sessions, dates and times can be found at:

8. I have just received the MercerOnline Blackboard Information Sessions letter. I have tried to log in with the information provided, but I am unable to log in. What's the deal?
  • MercerOnline sends the Blackboard Information Sessions letters a week or two before classes normally begin. In most cases, your instructors are still working on fine tuning their course materials for the upcoming semester. You will be able to log in a few days before the official start date of the class.

9. Can I use any web browser to access Blackboard?
  • Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are the recommended web browsers to use to access your online course.
  • Mac users can use Safari, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
  • Internet Explorer/ Edge is not compatible with Blackboard.

10. When clicking to view material in my class, I receive a notification that my browser has blocked a pop-up window. How do I disable my pop-up blocker?

  • A reliable desktop or laptop computer.
    • Mobile devices can be used to view course material but we highly recommend you use a desktop or laptop to complete assignments.
  • You will need a high speed Internet connection in order to work online.
  • Web cam/microphone (internal or connected to your computer).

12. How do I reply to a discussion board thread...create a blog entry...take a test online...access the groups tool...send email from my course...edit my personal Information?
